ArtLab is a dedicated art and technology facility whose agenda is to support Outreach and Widening Participation, and to share knowledge and experience in order to provide a focus for other department’s initiatives in this area. ArtLab therefore draws on the research tools and advances that academics have made across a range of technological disciplines in order to share more widely new ideas and understanding, in particular with WP schools.
Our aim is to disseminate this knowledge and research and to create impact as we move from STEM to STEAM. By integrating arts with research into and through new technologies we help develop academic skills that are not currently taught in mainstream schools, or that are outside of the traditional school curriculum. In this respect Artlab is part of a growing UK and International agenda with leading University’s worldwide taking part in STEAM initiatives.
